EPOCHS scholarship deadline has been moved to May 8.  Applications can be found online at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7znTAXjGdovRmpsbm5mVWhpZDQ/view?usp=sharing

Oconee County residents who have been accepted to The University of North Georgia may be interested in applying for the Oconee County Resident Scholarship. The initial requirements are:
  1. Oconee County Resident confirmed by address of record within the Admissions Banner system
  2. Must be a fully accepted incoming freshman
  3. Must be enrolled full time
  4. Must meet the following Admissions criteria

                 2.75 Minimum core high school curriculum GPA and the following test scores
                                SAT 480 critical reading and 440 math
                                ACT 20 English and 18 math

One $1,100 scholarship will be awarded to a senior member of the boys or girls soccer team this year at Senior Honors Night. This scholarship is in memory of Ryan King. This scholarship will be needs based and will require an essay entitled, "How your actions at school and home impact the lives of others." Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office. Please return to the Counseling Office by May 8.

Applications for the 2015 Polly Hardigree Ward Memorial Scholarship can now be picked up in the Counseling Office. This scholarship is for senior students who are planning on majoring in an Agriculture/Natural Resources related field of study. The application must be postmarked to Oconee River RC&D by May 5.

Decorating help is needed beginning Friday evening April 17 and again Saturday morning April 18. Want to help in the Senior Dessert & Coffee Lounge? With security? Or in the gym with volleyball? We need you in these areas and more! On Saturday, April 18, first shift is from 11 pm until 3 am, and second shift is 3 am until 6 am (includes clean-up time). Or you can stay the entire time!
Join in the "best party of 2015" and help provide a safe and fun event for our Juniors and Seniors and their guests! Held at North Oconee High School.

Schedule for Afterprom ticket sales the week of 4/13-4/18:

Monday (and tentatively Tuesday) lunches:  Ticket and T-shirt distribution to all students who registered during early sales.  We will also have registration forms available, but no tickets will be sold Mon and Tues.

Wed & Thursday lunches: Prom week ticket sales. Registration will be accepted at all lunches. Tickets will be $25.


Rising Juniors and Seniors may be interested in a residential research experience with The College of Pharmacy at UGA this summer. The program will run from May 31-June 5 and the cost to attend is $350.00 (need based scholarships are available). The admission application deadline is April 28, 2015 and the scholarship application deadline is April 14, 2015. The program is used to introduce students to pharmacy careers and give a realistic picture of what pharmacy school would be like. The primary purpose of the Oconee Lions Youth Citizenship Award is to recognize the achievements of two OCHS graduating seniors who provide evidence of the following criteria: (1) good citizenship, (2) an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community, and (3) a record of service to the community without personal financial award.  This award is not intended to necessarily benefit students with "high" grade point averages. In the evaluation, consideration will be given to need, recommendations, personal achievements, and a statement of the applicant's personal goals and aspirations. Special weight will be given to community service accomplishments.  The amount of the award is $1,000. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling office and are due back by 3:00 PM on April 24, 2015. Please turn the applications in to Mr. Guthas.  These applications will be picked up promptly at 3:00 on 4/24, so please turn yours in on time.

Each year, the Georgia Development Authority awards up to five (5) scholarships to qualified high school students who are pursuing college degrees in agricultural related fields.  This application can be found on the website at www.gdaonline.com under the scholarship tab.  Here, it can be printed for completion and submission through the mail, or filled out and submitted online.  Please be aware that the online option requires total completion once begun, as there is no way to “save” your work. The application deadline is June 1.

Georgia PTA Scholarships assists students who have successfully completed a Georgia high school and who are interested in furthering their education in a college, university or post-secondary institution. Georgia PTA Scholarships, the first of which was established in 1963 are funded solely through membership, local unit PTA, and Council contributions. The number of awards and amount of each scholarship vary year-to-year depending on the donations. This is a one-year, non-renewable grant. A student is eligible to apply for a Georgia PTA Scholarship if he/she:
  1. Is a graduating senior of a Georgia high school with a PTA/PTSA.
  2. The PTA must be in good standing (i.e., dues paid, approved bylaws on file).
  3. Student AND parent/guardian are current members AND must provide a copy of PTA/PTSA membership card with application.
  4. Will attend a college, university or post-secondary institution during the upcoming school year.
  5. Has exhibited good character.
  6. Has a satisfactory scholastic record. Grade point 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Athens Tech awards the High School Merit Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating student enrolling in ATC from a local high school. The maximum award is $1,000 over two terms ($500 per semester) which can be used for Tuition, fees, books, supplies, online learning resources or disbursed directly to scholarship recipient. The Education Foundation of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that $500 scholarships will be offered to one 2015 graduate from each of the five high schools in Oconee County. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and will be accepted by the Chamber between February 23 and April 2. Interested students should mail the application and all other required documentation directly to the Chamber of Commerce.

The Cavaliers' Club of Athens will award a $500.00 cash scholarship to a graduating high school student who meets the criteria listed below. The applicant will be judged on academic achievement, community service, school involvement and letters of recommendation.  Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and must be postmarked by April 24, 2015. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and have been accepted to a post-secondary institution.

The Presbyterian College Fellows Award recognizes high school juniors who have demonstrated superior academic achievement. The scholarship awards $500 annually for four years of study at Presbyterian. Selection as a PC Fellow also grants students consideration for other academic scholarships.

Juniors may be nominated who meet two of the following criteria:

PSAT (CR and Math only) score of 110 or higher
SAT (CR and Math only) score of 1100 or higher
ACT Composite score of 24 or higher

Ranked in the top 10 percent of the class.

A weighted GPA of 3.5 or more.
