The Dr. John Jackson Student Scholarship was created to honor Dr. John Jackson, retired Superintendent of Oconee County Schools, for his contributions to the Oconee County School System. It will be awarded to an Oconee County public school graduating senior pursuing a degree in education. The award is $2,000.   Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and are due by March 16

The Peach State Legacy Student Scholarship was created to honor the legacy of past and present board members and employees who have served Peach State Federal Credit Union for 20 years or more. It will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue a degree in education. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and are due bMarch 16

An admissions representative from Emmanuel College will be here during all luncheon Friday. He will be bringing with him information on their Honors Program.

Sophomore and Junior students may be interested in learning more about the Walton EMC Washington Youth Tour. Students will get to see the sites of Washington, meet politicians and learn about the United States Government. Current juniors who are interested in attending Furman University may be interested in becoming a Furman Scholar. This prestigious award allows for students to have up to $80,000 in scholarships over four years of college. 

Furman Scholar nominees must be current juniors who meet the following requirments:
           1. A genuine interest in an education in the liberal arts and sciences.
           2. A high school weighted GPA of a 3.5 or higher
           3. At least a 1300 on SAT, a 1360 on the SAT-R, a 1360 on the PSAT, or a 29 on the                         ACT. 
          4. Significant involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.
          5. Demonstrated leadership potential.

The Pilot Club scholarship applications are due on Tuesday

The ASVAB will be offered this semester on Wednesday, March 14 at 8:30 AM in the main conference room. Please have students Mr. Guthas in the counseling office if they are interested in signing up. 

InspirASIAN (formerly known as “APCA” [The Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement]) is a non-profit Employee Resource Group within AT&T.  (*Important Note: Although they are an organization dedicated to partnering with & improving the Asian community, their scholarships are open to ALL students!*)

Because there are both national & state organizations, there are two categories of scholarships available:

1)    21 - $2,000 “National” scholarships

2)    15 - $2,000 “State” scholarships


This provides Georgia High school students 36 opportunities to win a scholarship award from our organization. This program is an excellent opportunity to recognize students who excel in the classroom, as well as demonstrate awareness of and participation in community diversity related activities. 

The deadline for accepting scholarship applications is midnight, January 31st.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their scholastic and personal achievements, leadership, community involvement, work experience, a letter of recommendation and personal essay.  If you have any questions regarding the InspirASIAN scholarship program  send an email to scholarship@inspirasian.us

Last minute scholarship The Georgia Pilot Foundation will award up to three, $1,500 scholarships for outstanding community volunteer service to a graduating senior within the Georgia District. The name of the scholarship is the Lynda Goodwin Volunteer Scholarship. 

The applicant must be a graduating senior and have a minimum 3.0 academic GPA. Please pick up the applications from the counseling office. They will be picked up by a Pilot Club member on January 23. There is also an essay requirement along with recommendation letters needed as well, so don't delay in picking up the application. Students may turn the application in to Mr. Guthas in the counseling office.

The primary purpose of the Lions Club scholarship is to recognize the achievements of two OCHS seniors who provide evidence of good citizenship, interest in the community, academic achievement, and community service. The award is $1,000. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office and are due to by 3:00 on April 20. Please turn them in to Mr. Guthas.

Robins Financial Credit Union’s annual scholarship demonstrates the credit union’s support for education and our desire to help qualified members with the cost of attending school. 
 Our 2018 Scholarship will award a one-year, $2,000 scholarship to graduating seniors who will attend an in-state college or university in the fall. We encourage all graduating high school seniors who have an account at Robins Financial Credit Union to apply. Please visit our website at www.robinsfcu.org/Money-Smart/Money-Smart-Programs under the Scholarships tab. Copies of the scholarship application will also be available in the Counseling Office. 

An admissions counselor from the University of North Georgia will be here during Warrior Period on January 18. Please have your student sign up in the counseling office if they are interested in meeting with her. 

High school students and their parents can learn about the college admissions process at the ninth annual Colleges in Your Backyard event hosted by the University of Georgia Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Students who meet the following criteria may be interested in being nominated for a $20,000 scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design:

1. Minimum 1410 SAT combined math and critical reading score, or ACT composite score of at least 30.
2. GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Stellar visual arts, performing arts, or writing capabilities.
4. Honors and awards from competitions, or other recognitions.
5. Leadership skills demonstrated through co-curricular or extracurricular involvement. 

To be considered, a nominee must complete all SCAD admission requirements, including transcript and portfolio submissions by February 1.Students should apply online at scad.edu/apply. This also includes a school nomination as well. If you are interested in being nominated, please see Mr. Guthas in the counseling office.

The Georgia District Civitan Foundation invites Seniors to apply for the following scholarships:

Alice Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service and the Bobby Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service (Awarded to a physically challenged student).

The first place recipient for each scholarship receives a $1,200 award. In addition, a second place award of $800 will be presented. The applicant's community service involvement will be the main factor in determining the recipient. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and must be postmarked by January 31, 2018

Three letters of recommendation and a 500 word essay must be included as well.
