The Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a premier six-week internship program for Georgia’s high school juniors and seniors interested in exploring Science, Technology, and Math through research in agricultural, food and environmental sciences. The 2020 YSP summer internship program will be held June 1 to July 10, 2020 on the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Athens, Griffin and Tifton campuses. This program is delivered through the Office of Diversity Affairs in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. 
 
The Young Scholars Program has three goals: (1) expose Georgia’s high school students to research and careers in agricultural sciences (2) recruit students to UGA’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; and (3) increase exposure and cultivate interests in agricultural sciences among students from underrepresented minority populations. We welcome all students to apply. 
 
Application requirements are as follows:
•    Complete and submit the online application by January 31, 2020
•    Two letters of recommendation from science or math teachers by January 31, 2020
•    One official school transcript by January 31, 2020

Walton EMC is pleased to offer a scholarship in honor of Walter Harrison. Harrison, called "Mr. Rural Electrification" in Georgia, was nationally known for his lifetime efforts to make electricity available to every home in Georgia.   Twelve scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded in 2020. The scholarship application and criteria list can be found at www.waltonemc.com/walterharrison . The recipients home must be serviced by Walton EMC in order to receive the scholarship. The application, along with all supporting documents, must be postmarked by Friday, January 17.

An admissions representative from the University of North Georgia will be a OCHS on Wednesday, January 29 during Warrior Period. The meeting will take place in the main conference room. 

UGA is now accepting applications to our VetCAMP 2020, which is scheduled for June 7-13, 2020. This program is offered to rising high school juniors and seniors and rising college freshmen to evaluate their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, provide mentorship and help them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path. It’s a great experience and the students have a lot of fun while also learning about the profession.  The application for VetCAMP 2020 is available now on our website. All application materials must be received by Friday, January 24, 2020. 


The cost of attending the program is $900 and covers lodging, meals, instruction and social activities. Financial assistance is available to participants with demonstrated need. Students who are accepted into VetCAMP may request a financial assistance application by emailing us at vetcamp@uga.edu. They may also reach out to that email address with any general questions that they have regarding the program.

The Walton Electric Trust student scholarship is open to any graduating senior whose primary residence is served by Walton EMC. The scholarships available will be worth $4,000 and will be non-renewable. Applications can be found at www.waltonemc.com, or can also be picked up in the counseling office. The application deadline is January 31, 2020.
