Clarification about the HOPE Scholarship:  If you attended the presentation on HOPE last Tuesday at NOHS, the representative said that no AP Courses were weighted in figuring the HOPE GPA.  Since that time, we have received an email retraction from the GSFC representative that AP courses are still being weighted in the same manner that they have been in the past and no change has taken place.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HOPE SCHOLARSHIP AND APPLYING TO COLLEGE?  On August 23rd at 6 pm in the NOHS Fine Arts Auditorium, North Oconee and Oconee County High Schools' Guidance Departments will sponsor a college panel discussion.  Representatives from military, four-year, two-year, and technical colleges will be here to talk about the latest trends in college admissions.  These representatives will identify the most common mistakes that they see applicants make and tell both students and parents how to avoid them.

On August 23rd at about 6:45 pm in the NOHS Fine Arts Auditorium, representatives from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will be with us to guide us through the sometimes murky waters of HOPE eligibility.  As we always say about HOPE issues, "what you don't know can kill you."  Pardon the drama of this last statement, but in dealing with parents who find out that their student is not HOPE eligible in the senior year, this statement is pretty accurate.  If you will arm yourself with dependable information and learn how to check your student's HOPE GPA on www.gacollege411.org, you can avoid moments like this.
