The primary purpose of the Oconee Lions Youth Citizens Award is to recognize the achievements of two OCHS graduating seniors who provide evidence of the following criteria: (1) good citizenship, (2) an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community, and (3) a record of service to the community without personal financial reward.
 
The award will be public recognition and a scholarship for post-secondary education. The amount of the award is $1,000 to each of two graduating seniors. Special weight will be given to community services accomplishments.
 
Applications can be picked up in the counseling office and must be turned in by 3:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2014.

College Goal Georgia 2014

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Georgia will host a College Goal Georgia event Saturday, February 15, 2014. The goal of this event is to assist high school seniors and college students in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 

All graduate and undergraduate students must complete the FAFSA process after January 1 of each year in order to receive consideration for Federal Financial Aid (including Federal Grants, Federal Loans, and the Federal Work Study Program) for the upcoming academic year. 

What You Should Bring With You to this Event: 

  • Your Social Security Number 
  • Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student
  • Your driver’s license number if you have one 
  • Your Alien Registration Number if you are not U.S. Citizen 
  • [2013] Federal tax information or tax returns including [2013] IRS W-2 information, for you (and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents if you are a dependent student*** 
  • IRS 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ Foreign tax return, or Tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federal State of Micronesia, or Palau 
  • Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans noneducation benefits, for you, and your parents if you are dependent student*** 
  • Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate but not including the home in which you live; and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

Who can attend this event? 

High School seniors who are applying to college and current college students who need assistance filling out the FAFSA. Both UGA and non-UGA students are welcome to attend this event!

The address for the Miller Learning Center is 48 Baxter Street in Athens, GA at the intersection of Baxter Street and Lumpkin Street. Parking is available at the Tate Center Deck and is free on the weekends. The Tate Center Deck is located next to the Miller Learning Center.
