Welcome back!!

The Youth Leadership Oconee program through the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is for any 10th or 11th grade students who want to further develop their leadership skills and channel those skills towards helping others and improving their community, to apply.   Applications are due back by Thursday, August 22.

The Progressive Outreach Coalition, Inc. is offering $750 scholarships to senior students. Applicants must be raised by a grandparent, another relative or some guardian other than a parent. You must have at least a 2.8 GPA, and plan on attending college in the fall of 2020. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office. The application must be postmarked by February 28th, 2020.

The ASVAB will be offered at the Oconee Civic Center on October 28 at 8:30 AM. Please see Mr. Guthas if you are interested in taking the ASVAB. This assessment is used to determine qualifications for the United States Armed Forces enlistments. All interested students in grades 10-12 can take the assessment.

Emory University admissions will be at OCHS on October 4 during Warrior Period. Please sign up in the counseling office if interested.  

An admissions representative from Furman University will be at OCHS on Monday, October 21 at 1:00. The meeting will take place in the career center. Please sign up if interested in the counseling office. 

Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission is currently seeking applications for their Youth Advisory Council for the 2019-2020 school year.  This group is made up of passionate middle and high school students who want to make a positive difference in their community.  It's an excellent opportunity for students to gain leadership experience and build their resumes while learning about sustainability and engaging in hands on projects.  Students meet once a month for planning, service, or events.

During the 2018/19 school year, the KOCBC YAC was instrumental in bringing public recycling to the City of Watkinsville at Harris Shoals Park and Rocket Field.  They also helped certify Harris Shoals Park, Watkinsville Woods and John McNally Park as recognized Wildlife Habitats in addition to multiple clean ups, the fall festival and other community events.
