The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are programs that teach students how government works, while developing leadership skills and an appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. In this summer program, you can run for office, learn public speaking, and draft/debate legislation. Students must be finishing their junior year to apply. Complete details for Girls State (June 10-15) can be found at www.georgiagirlsstate.org . For Boys (May 27-June2), www.dogboysstate.org. The cost for the student will be paid for by Post #20 American Legion. Please contact Vickie Burroughs at (706) 850-6965 if you have any questions or would like to schedule a meeting to discuss the program.
