If your Sophomore took the PLAN in November, they received those scores back today during Warrior Period.
Juniors picked up their scores from the Georgia High School Writing Test today during lunch. Any tests that were not picked up will be given out in Warrior Period on Monday
Global Connections is sponsoring an Art & Essay contest. The theme for this years essay contest is world wide hunger. First place winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to Turkey for ten days. For complete details, please visit www.artessay.org. The deadline for the essay is January 27, 2012.
The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program scholarship is awarded annually and must be used at one of the eighteen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions. Each award provides annual tuition, fees, books, room and board and laptop for each academic year. The scholar is required to work in the Student Educational Employment Program during school breaks and agree to one year of service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for each year of financial support at the completion of the bachelor's degree. In order to apply, the senior must also have a 3.0 GPA or better and have scored a 1000 on the SAT (math and critical reading); or 21 on the ACT. All application materials must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2012 and sent to the university selected by the applicant to attend. The Georgia District Civitan Foundation invites Seniors to apply for the Alice Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service and the Bobby Dodd Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service (Awarded to a physically challenged student). The first place recipient for each scholarship receives a 41,200 award. Although academics and financial need are important and will be reviewed, the overriding criteria will be the applicant's community service involvement. Applications can be picked up in the guidance office and must be postmarked by January 31, 2012.
