Grades 10-11 - UGA Science and Math Academy

 The UGA Science and Math Summer Academy will be held from June 7 - June 25 from 8:30 - 12:00 noon. This 3 - week program for rising junior and senior students is for those interested in science and math careers. If you are interested, please pick up an application in the guidance office. An application plus a teacher recommendation from your science or math teacher must be completed by April 2.

 Through this Academy, students will engage in a variety of math and science activities facilitated by UGA faculty, learn about math and science careers and practice leading small group activities with children. There are no admission fees.

 Grades 11-12 – GA Power 21st Century Leaders

 GA Power will serve as the corporate sponsor for the 21st CENTURY LEADERS program again this year. The program will be hosted by Berry College in Rome, GA during the second week of June.   OCHS can nominate one rising sophomore, one junior and one senior to attend the leadership program. After reviewing, please see Mr. Guthas in the guidance office if you are interested in being nominated. In order to be nominated, you must have positive attendance, academic and discipline records. The application process must be complete by April 2.

 Grades 10-11 – Move on When Ready

 Move on When Ready is the state’s newest dual enrollment program which allows students to earn credit simultaneously at high school while attending college classes.  If you are interested, please look at the information on the OCHS webpage or contact your student’s counselor.  Of our area schools, Athens Tech is accepting students into this program for next year.  UGA and Gainesville College will be making their decision in the next few weeks concerning accepting Move on When Ready students for next year.

Grades 10-12 - Piedmont college Open House

 Piedmont College invites you to drop in anytime between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 27 for their Spring Open House. This will take place at the Prince Avenue campus.  High school students will have the opportunity to meet Piedmont students, admission counselors, financial aid representatives and other faculty members.
