The Athens Area Human Relations Council, Inc. invites area seniors to its 2018 Scholarship Orientation on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Athens Regional Library, 2025 Baxter Street, Athens. AAHRC will soon be selecting students to receive scholarships at our 40th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Banquet in January 2019. To qualify, you must attend the orientation and be a high school senior attending high school in one of our member-represented counties: Clarke, Madison, Oconee, or Oglethorpe. Applications and supporting materials (official transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation) must be post-marked by October 27, 2018. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 2018.
The Honors College at Georgia
State University's application deadline for our Presidential Scholarship is November 15, 2018. The earlier Presidential Scholarship deadline
means that prospective students must also apply to Georgia State University by
November 9, 2018 to be eligible for scholarship consideration. The competitive Presidential Scholarship
program recognizes incoming university freshmen who were leaders in their high
schools with superior academic achievement, a commitment to service and
inspiring personal qualities. The Class of 2022 Presidential Scholars boasted
an average SAT score of 1431, ACT score of 32.5, GPA of 3.96.

The Joseph Schmittou Detachment #1083 of the Marine Corps League is accepting applications from graduating seniors. Applicants do not have to be planning on joining the Marines to apply. The scholarship is for $1,000. Applications can be picked up in the counseling office and must be postmarked by April 15, 2019.
