The Athens Area Human Relations Council, Inc. will soon be selecting students to receive scholarships at their annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Banquet in January. Senior students are encouraged to apply. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and must be postmarked by October 31  with all supporting materials. The scholarship awards banquet will be held on January 16  at The Classic Center in Athens.

The John M. Belk Scholarship at Davidson College recognizes and rewards students of demonstrated superior intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership ability. Up to eight Belk Scholars will be chosen in Davidson's Class of 2020, each receiving an annually renewable scholarship equivalent to the college's comprehensive fees ($60,119.00). OCHS may nominate one to two seniors for the Belk Scholarship. The nomination materials must be turned in to the Davidson office by November 6. Top senior scholar athletes may be nominated for the Class of 2020 Davidson College Bryan Scholarships. At Davidson, academic excellence comes first for all students. The Bryan Scholars Program honors scholar athletes who present outstanding academic records and are strong leaders both in the classroom and in their sport. Two Bryan Scholars, one male and one female, are chosen in each entering Davidson class. Football and Basketball sports are not eligible applicant sports.  OCHS may nominate up to three students for this prestigious award by Monday, September 21.
