United States Senator Johnny Isakson will host his annual Spring Academy Day on Saturday, May 12 from 10:00-11:30 AM at Dobbins Air Force Base. The purpose of Academy Day is to nominate qualified candidates to the United States military academies. Representatives from all five academies will be in attendance to answer questions to parents and students. The event is open to all students in grades 9-12. Each year, Gainesville State College offers the Dean's Scholarship to graduating seniors who plan on attending GSC. This year, GSC is excited to announce that they are able to increase the value of the Dean's Scholarship significantly and the selection of the recipients will be determined through an on-campus competition as well as for the President's Leadership Program Scholarship. The scholarship competition will take place on Saturday, April 28 from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM on the Gainesville campus of GSC. The day will consist of a breakfast, interviews, campus tours and an informational session about GSC. The Dean's Scholarship is a one-year, non-renewable scholarship for Fall semester 2012. The President's Leadership Program Scholarship may be renewed for a second year.
In order to participate in the GSC Scholarship competition, a student must meet the following criteria:
-Must apply to GSC by April 1 as a first time freshman student.
-Must complete the FAFSA by June 1.
-Must have a a minimum 3.2 overall GPA and a minimum combined SAT score of 1100 (CR & M only) or an ACT composite score of 24.
-Must complete a scholarship application along with all required attachments to the Office of Admissions by April 13.
Applications can be picked up in the Guidance Office.
Alpha Iota Delta of Chi Psi Fraternity is proud to announce the Bethel Scholarship to GA Tech. The scholarship is sponsored by the Robert B. Plunkett Memorial Educational Trust. This year, one scholarship of $1,000 will be offered to a qualified male entering GA Tech this fall. The written application, accompanied by an official transcript, must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2012. Applications can be picked up in the counselor’s office.

Applications for the 2012 Jordan Ellis Memorial Scholarship are now available to seniors in the counselor’s office. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.0 to be eligible for consideration. The scholarship is sponsored by Rope A Dream Foundation, Inc. The award amount is undetermined at this time. The applications are due to Rope A Dream Foundation, Inc. by April 1, 2012.
Andrew College will offer a new scholarship for Fall 2012 to a select number of high school seniors, who desire to pursue a degree in sport management. The scholarship will be in the amount of $5800 and renewed in their sophomore year, if the program requirements are completed.
