The Clemson University Summer Scholars Program is offering fun and educational programs this summer to students entering 7th - 12th grade in the Fall. One of the goals of The Classic Center Cultural Foundation is to support the youth in our community who desire to continue their studies in the arts. The Classic Center Cultural Foundation will be offering three separate $2,000 scholarships. There will be one awarded for vocal performance, one for musical instrument and one for performance art: drama/dance. Any high school Junior or Senior from Clarke County or surrounding counties is eligible (Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe). A panel of local judges will be been chosen to make the final decision for the scholarship award. To apply, the applicant should fill out an application form and submit it to The Classic Center Cultural Foundation byMarch 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. This is a firm deadline and applications will not be accepted after that point. An audition will be required; it will be held on April 13, 2016, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on The Classic Center Theatre stage. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office.
The Marine Corps League of Athens, GA announces an available scholarship. The award, in the amount of $1,000, can be used to defray the costs of tuition and books at an accredited college. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office and must be submitted with a postmark date of no later than April 15, 2016.
Students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. This event is a nation-wide annual art competition that allows high school students to showcase their ability. Winners artwork is displayed at the U.S. Capitol building for a year. Entries are due to one of the district offices byThursday, March 24th.
Wofford proudly announces the 68th annual Wofford Scholars Program. Qualified candidates are eligible to compete for scholarships ranging from $3,000 per year up to a full scholarship Wofford. Current juniors in the top 10% of the class can be nominated to be a Wofford Scholar. The student must also have a 1250 (critical reading and math combined) PSAT or SAT score, or 28 on the ACT. All students who are nominated for this program must apply Early Action or Early Decision. Please see your counselor by April 1 if interested in being nominated.
Students selected as Furman Scholars are eligible for at least $7,500 per year, $30,000 over four years, in scholarships upon acceptance to Furman. Furman scholar nominees must be current juniors who meet the following criteria:
- A genuine interest in an education in the liberal arts and sciences
- A high school weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher
-Significant involvement in extracurricular activities and community service
-Demonstrated leadership potential
-At least a 1250 on the SAT, a 1280 on the PSAT, or a 28 on the ACT.
